Caring for Ourselves, Together

At the heart of the Mandala Yoga Festival is a simple truth: when we care for ourselves, we nurture the whole. Our festival celebrates individual well-being within a compassionate, supportive community.

Those who gather at the festival are sensitive yet strong, grounded yet open. They move through life with awareness, curiosity, and kindness. Through mindful movement, deep breath, and shared stillness, we explore the full-body experience that yoga invites: a practice that strengthens and softens, awakens and restores, connects and expands. To come together in this way is to honor not only our personal journey but the collective one — the understanding that growth happens more deeply when witnessed, encouraged, and supported by others. When one person heals, grows, or finds peace, that energy ripples outward into the community.

Yoga is More than Poses

Yoga is a holistic practice that originated in ancient India, encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions. Yoga aims to unite the body, mind, and spirit, promoting overall well-being and self-awareness.

The 8 Limbs of Yoga, from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, outline a holistic approach to yoga. These limbs work together to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Yama

Ethical guidelines for social behavior, including principles like non-violence (ahimsa), truthfulness (satya), non-stealing (asteya), moderation (brahmacharya), and non-possessiveness (aparigraha).

Niyama

Personal observances that guide individual behavior, such as cleanliness (saucha), contentment (santosha), self-discipline (tapas), self-study (svadhyaya), and surrender to a higher power (ishvara pranidhana).

Asana

The physical postures or poses that improve strength, flexibility, and overall physical health.

Pranayama

Breath control techniques that regulate the breath to enhance the flow of life force (prana) and promote mental clarity.

Pratyahara

Pratyahara is the withdrawal of the senses, turning inward to focus on the mind and spirit.

Dharana

Concentration, or the practice of focusing the mind on a single point or object.

Dhyana

Meditation, which involves sustained focus and contemplation, leading to deeper awareness and insight.

Samadhi

The ultimate state of bliss and union with the universal consciousness, where the individual self merges with the greater whole.
