Jim Crane

Yoga Teachers 2026

Jim brings a diverse movement background shaped by decades of personal practice and nearly two decades of teaching. He was a weightlifter for over 30 years and has studied and practiced multiple movement disciplines—including several styles of yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Qigong, and aerobics—over a span of 27 years. He has been teaching for 19 of those years. Over time, his teaching style has evolved through many phases, ultimately leading him to his current focus: Preparing the Body for Life. Rather than training for poses or performance, his classes are designed to support everyday living—working in the garden, climbing stairs, carrying groceries, getting up and down from the floor, or moving furniture safely and confidently. A central element of his teaching is the integration of breath, movement, and the nervous system. By combining long, slow, deep breathing with slow, mindful movement, students create an opportunity to re-program habitual movement patterns into ones that are more efficient, supportive, and beneficial. This approach helps improve strength, balance, mobility, and overall ease of movement while calming and regulating the central nervous system. He currently teaches classes online as well as in community settings. He leads “Get Out of the Chair Yoga” classes at the Neenah Senior Center, teaches at the Appleton YMCA, and substitutes within the Oshkosh YMCA system.

Join Jim for Yoga for Golfers in the Cosmos tent at 12:30 pm.
